Weighing Equality

Equality isn’t voluntary, it’s necessary- unknown

We often talk about equality in various terms. Equality shouldn’t be only for gender but also in every piece of reality. For starters, equality between colleagues in a workspace, barriers between high-class and low-class etc. Gender equality has gained attention over the years and it is an important step towards betterment. Seeking equality is important because it has become a human issue and affects all. According to human rights, “The general principle of equality and non-discrimination is a fundamental element of international human rights law”.

Equality among gender will only come to reality by changing the thinking process of people. Respect everyone in their own real faces because we all are distinct and everyone has diverse abilities. Remove those mask around your eyes to see each one of us as equally one. It seems there is a lot of struggle involved in moving towards equality in general. But it’s becoming much better and revolution is happening in many sectors. The dominant nature of groups creates humanity degrading to an extent. Giving equal importance doesn’t demean any individual or group. It only means giving equal rights and to be seen as one. In the world where humanity is diminishing day by day, it’s utmost important to view things with a broad mind.

Gender inequality, economic inequalities, education inequalities etc effects live in general and it’s been around ages. Discrimination based on any criteria needs to put a closure. This does affect the overall development. There are many wrong perceptions and beliefs among us which needs a change. Such beliefs limit ourselves to think narrow and hence leaving fewer chances to widen our horizons to think better. There is discrimination happening across the globe but things have started to improve. According to some survey, discrimination against girls is no longer rampant and education is becoming really important for them. And the difference shown in other sectors is also reduced drastically. Many organisations have come forward to help the scenario for a better quality of life.

Learn and live well. Education plays an important role in everyone lives. Because an educated person is independent and manages to live a life of comfort. Denying education based on gender, social status is a wrong step towards humanity. The development marks the overall wellbeing of humans. There is no paradigm for making everyone equal it’s just about the conjugation of different forms of learning. Understanding that all are humans will cut down most of the mindset of people and hence intersectional thinking requires a distant mindset.

“The shift is as fundamental and as necessary as the shift from a geocentric to a heliocentric view of the universe. You can’t “mend” the geocentric viewpoint that the sun revolves around the earth: you have to rethink fundamentally how the universe works.” Steve Denning

We need to become more inclined towards civilization in an appropriate manner. Equality has to rise above with no such eligibility mark. We are a developing country with the second largest population. So the practice of weighing equality should be not just an attempt but a step ahead. Slow and steady steps will ensure greater help for the coming generation. More opportunities should be given out for deserving people rather than biasing on various issues. And like Nelson Mandela said, “No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Living a life of peace and harmony is what we need to strive for instead of hate. Needing equality in all forms and everywhere should be the motto which needs to be taught from the start. On a positive note, things are changing and let’s hand in for the change. Because change starts with us. Let’s rewrite with different colours and make things better for all of us. And it’s “YOU” who can help with the change.

Let Equality Bloom for betterment and peace. Let’s stand strong together. We are all humans.

Stay Positive
